What to Expect with Arm LiftsSagging or drooping skin of the upper arm is a common complaint of many men and
women. The “bat wings” condition may be caused by large loss
of weight, age or simply heredity. This condition is usually
unresponsive to exercise. Even though weight training will
improve the tone of the muscles of the upper arm it will not address
the lost elasticity of the skin nor the weakened underlying
tissues. An arm lift or brachioplasty is the surgical answer
to this condition. The goal of an arm lift is to reshape the upper arm to give it a more toned and proportionate look. There are 2 techniques to achieve this: the long inner arm incision and the minimal armpit incision. 
 The technique Dr. Newall uses will depend on your specific situation. The minimal
incision will allow Dr. Newall to remove fatty deposits and do some
tightening of the underlying tissues but does not incorporate removing
skin. The long incision technique will achieve a greater
final result but will also leave a scar from the arm pit to the
elbow. Dr. Newall will do his best to minimize the visibility
