What to Expect with Butt Lift Surgery

The term Butt Lift or Brazilian Butt Lift has only just recently entered the mainstream English lexicon although they have been around since the early ‘90’s.  Dr. Newall has seen an increased interest in having a full figure which includes a proportionate, shapely butt.

The butt lift procedure refers to the surgical procedure of enhancing the size or shape of the butt.  Although the use of the terminology may vary the butt lift usually refers to augmenting the butt with the use of a silicone implant or the excision and pulling of skin.  The term Brazilian Butt Lift usually refers to the augmentation of the butt using fat grafting.  You will find not everyone uses these terms in this way but regardless of the term used these two options are available.

Dr. Newall will no longer perform the butt lift procedure using the silicone implants.  The risk of infections and complications are so high that he prefers to utilize the Brazilian Butt Lift technique whenever possible.  His preference to the Brazilian Butt Lift is due to two strong reasons: 1) the donor fat usually comes from your own waistline or thighs resulting in a more attractive body shape; and, 2) fat grafting has a lower rate of infection than implants.

The fat grafting technique involves using liposuction to harvest fat cells from other areas of the body such as the waist or thighs, separating the fat cells from other products in the liposuction and re-injecting them in the desired area of the butt.  To achieve a lifting effect Dr. Newall injects the majority of the fat cells into the upper quadrant of the butt.  He has found this technique provides a better natural looking outcome.
