What to Expect with Eyelid SurgeryA blepharoplasty is the surgical procedure of improving the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids by removing the fat and excess skin. The result is a more youthful, rested and alert appearance. Patients who suffer from droopy or puffy eyes are often good candidates for this procedure. Surgery of a droopy upper eyelid incorporates an incision in the eyelid crease above the eye. Thru this incision Dr. Newall will remove or reposition the fat deposits as well as remove some skin. You will have sutures for approximately a week. Any scarring is concealed in the natural crease of the eyelid. 
Surgery to improve the puffy appearance under the eyes includes an incision just below the lash line. Dr. Newall will use this opening to access the fatty deposits and either remove some fat or reposition the fat. Any scarring in minimal and well hidden in the lash line. 
Dr. Newall usually advises his patients not to resume strenuous activities for approximately 3 weeks. Droopy and baggy eyes are a major sign of aging and tend to worsen with time. These conditions tend to make one look older and more tired than they really are. A blepharoplasty is very effective in rejuvenating your facial appearance but is more effective when combined with a brow lift and or facelift(link this term to the eyelid surgery section).
