Facial Implants

What to Expect with Facial Implant Procedures

In some situations a facial implant may be necessary to achieve the desired cosmetic and aesthetic result.  Implants can be used to bring a chin forward or bring out the cheek bones.  The goal is to provide better facial balance and symmetry.  The results are often dramatic and problems are rare.  Currently most facial implants are made of solid silicone.  There is no scientific evidence that this is harmful to your body.  The two most common implants are Cheek Implants and Chin Implants:

Cheek Implant:

Dr. Newall will use cheek implants to accentuate the cheeks and cheekbone appearance.  The right size implant can make you look years younger by returning fullness to an aged appearance.  Cheek implants are usually performed in conjunction with fat grafting or a facelift.

Chin Implant:

A chin implant is usually desired by patients who have what is called a “weak chin”.  This is when the chin dramatically curves backwards towards the neck rather than projecting forward.  This may be due to heredity, trauma or age-related bone deterioration.  A chin implant is a rather simple procedure and can often be combined with fat grafting or cosmetic fillers for the best results.
